چکیده
Cervical cancer is the most common gynecologic malignancy in Thai women and more than 50 percent of cases have died from cervical cancer; an average of nearly 3000 cases per year, or about 7 cases per day. There were more than 270,000 people worldwide die with this disease each year or 650 people per day by estimation. From the report of the Thai National Cancer Institute (Thai National Cancer Institute, 2009), the Ministry of Health of Thailand reported that by the year 2007, the incidence of cervical cancer was 24.7 per 100,000 of Thai women, or 6,243 new cases per year on an average. It was considered to be the most common cancer in Thai women. In Khon Kaen, a province in the northeastern Thailand, the

”Maximum dose” points in cervical and endometrial cancer medium dose rate brachytherapy
Background: Best dose distribution in target volume and control of Organ at Risk (OAR) dose are the two main goals in brachytherapy. Materials and Methods: In this study in vivo dosimetry in 4 rectal points was performed by Transillumination Dosimeter (TLD) s and the measured doses were compared in different patients. One point was reported to have the maximum dose in each patient and the very ...
متن کاملRectal and Bladder Dose Measurements in the Intracavitary Applications of Cervical Cancer Treatment with HDR Afterloading System: Comparison of TPS Data with MOSFET Detector
Background: Intracavitary brachytherapy plays a major role in management of cervical carcinoma. Assessment of dose received by OAR’s therefore becomes crucial for the estimation of radiation toxicities in HDR brachytherapy. Objective: Purpose of this study is to evaluate the role of in vivo dosimetry in HDR brachytherapy and to compare actual doses delivered to OAR’ s with those calculate...
Background & Aim: Genitalia system cancers are the third most common cancers. In females, surgery and/or radiotherapy±chemotherapy are treatments of choice for cervical, endometrial or vaginal cancers. Brachytherapy is a complementary part of External Beam Radiotherapy(EBRT). MDR(Medium Dose Rate) brachytherapy in female genitalia cancers is founded on two bases: high and appropriate dose d...
متن کاملRectal wall dose estimation in intracavitary brachytherapy: A preliminary comparison of an in-house rectal wire versus ICRU 38 recommendations
Background: In intracavitary brachytherapy for gynecological cancers, various techniques are used to locate the anterior rectal wall nearest to the sources but there is no consensus on the best method to do so. This study aimed to compare a technique used routinely in some centers that employs a wire marker to locate the position of the maximum rectal dose point, versus the method recommended b...
متن کاملDose–volume histogram parameters of high-dose-rate brachytherapy for Stage I–II cervical cancer (≤4cm) arising from a small-sized uterus treated with a point A dose-reduced plan
We investigated the rectal dose-sparing effect and tumor control of a point A dose-reduced plan in patients with Stage I-II cervical cancer (≤4 cm) arising from a small-sized uterus. Between October 2008 and August 2011, 19 patients with Stage I-II cervical cancer (≤4 cm) were treated with external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) for the pelvis and CT-guided brachytherapy. Seven patients were treated ...
